Megabeast Productions: Who we are and what we're about
Here at Megabeast Productions we would describe ourselves as a UK based street theatre company that specialises in large eye catching costumes and memorable interactions.
We were founded in 2014 as a single act and have since grown year upon year; providing world class entertainment across the UK as well as internationally at some of the World’s biggest events.
We believe in a quality first approach to event entertainment and, as such, only represent acts that we as founders are personally involved in. This means that when you book one of our acts you can be certain you are getting up-to-date information and hands on expertise all the way through the booking process.
Our two founders have have nearly 40 years of combined experience in event entertainment, and we welcome questions regardless of where you are in your event planning process.
Our "Vision"
As artists ourselves, we talk a lot about the cross over between our personal artistic vision and the experience of our audiences. There is often a disconnect between what an artists wants to convey and what an audience wants to experience.
Whilst some companies are “purists” in their character vision (and we absolutely respect them for it) we firmly believe that good art is art that is accessible and enjoyable. With that in mind we put the publics reaction to our work at the forefront throughout our design and build process; both of the costumes themselves and the characters who inhabit them.
This is an ever evolving process; not only because we learn and adapt with every new performance, but also because the landscape of how people enjoy visual art is ever adapting. For instance, creating costumes and acts that are visually appealing in both person and digitial media is of huge importance now, where-as in 2009 it was less so.
We believe our hands on experience working with both our own acts, as well some of the other top performance agencies in the world, means we canoffer a unique expertise to your event.
The Founding of Megabeast Productions
Megabeast Productions was founded by James Guiver and John Godbolt in 2014 kind of by accident. We had both had individual performance careers for about 5 years when we got together to make our first act: Treemendous. This proved to be a hugely poplar (pun intended) and suddenly needed a name underwhich to operate.
The name came from a good friend of ours at the time: Lewis Kennedy. Lewis is a very talented juggler, incredibly enthusiastic, and (I hope he’ll forgive me for saying), often a little eccentric. When he saw something he thought was impressive he would often shout out “MEGABEAST!”. With his permission we adopted the name as it carried with it as passion we hoped to emulate with our work.
Over the years we have organically added to our repetoire of acts and slowly morphed into the company we are today.
Meet the Founders

John Godbolt
I've always been playful and curious. I love finding different ways to do things fascinated by how and why things work and always looking for ways to improve.
I began busking because I wanted to practice my juggling and performance skills with an audience. I loved I took home exactly what people though I was worth on any given day.
When I moved in to events I looked to always be looking to reach and exceed the monetary value placed on my act. When we started Megabeast it was a strong commitment of mine to ensure that each act was not just a pretty costume, but a shared moment that would stay with my audience for years to come.

James Guiver
I began my performance career as a teenager after I saw some fire performers for the first time and thought "I could do that". It turned out, like many things, that after many years of practice, I could indeed do that.
After attending Circomedia Circus and Theatre School in 2012 I wanted to start creating acts that stood out from the crowd. I tried many avenues but eventually found designing and creating street theatre acts really scratched my creative itch.
I particularly enjoy thinking of ways an act can come alive beyond the obvious and solving the unique problems of balancing a great looking act with one that is practical and usable.
